Culture Development and Consultancy

Culture is an enigmatic thing.

It’s a community that comes together around shared values and a shared vision.

Values are how you behave as a business, what you believe in, and how you treat each other and your customers. Leaders need to define these values and communicate them on a regular basis. Seeking your staff’s contribution to defining values is even better. Values aren’t just a list of words written up in the staff room or handbook, they have to be authentic and demonstrated in everything you do. An employee will feel connected to their job when their personal values align well with the organisation’s values. When hiring new staff it’s important to communicate your values and explore if there is a match, and then reinforce them every day.

Shared Purpose and Vision

A shared purpose will bring staff and customers together around the reason you exist. It creates a culture where people have a sense of how they are part of creating something amazing.

  • Do your team know why the business exists?

  • What does your organisation want to be known for?

  • What’s the origin story and whatwhy did the founders what to change?

  • How is your business special?

  • How are you going to achieve that together?

If you can communicate the vision with your team, the ‘WHY’, and give them the opportunity to contribute to the ‘HOW’ then you will build commitment.

why culture matters

Building a strong positive culture is key to building a successful, high-performing business and engaged team. It creates and builds:

  • A sense of belonging

  • An environment where employees hold themselves accountable and will go beyond their job description

  • A heightened belief in the individual and collective outcome

  • A commitment to achieve business goals

  • The Scope, agency, and autonomy to determine how staff execute their role.
